研究了影響丁基防水嵌縫密封膠總揮發性有機物(TVOC)的主要因素。通過DOE(Department of Energy)部分因子實驗設計方法，從樹脂、偶聯劑、杭氧劑及催化劑這4個因子中確定出影響TVOC的關健因素，通過回歸模型的建立確定了其最佳的配方條件:樹脂份數為400、杭氧劑份數為巧、偶聯劑份數為20、催化劑種類為乙，重復實驗后得到的TVOC值為20.1 p,到g丁基防水嵌縫密封膠是以硅烷改性聚醚聚合物為主體，加人增塑劑、補強填料、除水劑、偶聯劑及催化劑制備的高性能密封膠。它在與濕氣接觸時發生水解縮合反應，形成一Si-O-Si一的三維立體結構，同時釋放小分子醇類。因其不含有機溶劑和游離異氰酸醋，被認為具有出色的環保性能，受到市場的青睞。在汽車車身焊縫、地板及內飾粘接、門窗及風擋玻璃粘接等用膠點的使用也越來越廣泛。
